Team GB’s Daniel Purvis announced today that he is retiring from competitive gymnastics. A key member of the team for the last decade, Dan won a number of team and individual medals at major championships, including Worlds and the Olympics, and won five Commonwealth medals for Team Scotland. Having started on the Athlete to Coach transition programme, Dan has now turned his attention to gymnastics coaching in order to inspire a new generation of gymnasts.
Judging from the outpouring of support and well wishes on social media from fellow competitors, fans and coaches, Dan will be sorely missed at international competitions, but British Gymnastics have confirmed that he will be attending this year’s Scottish and British Championships as his final competitions. We wish Dan the best of luck for the future!
