Interview: Eythora Thorsdottir and Bart Deurloo

We were able to spend a couple of minutes with Eythora and Bart after the Swiss Cup, and here’s what they had to say:

How did you feel about the competition today?

EYTHORA: Very happy! I’m just happy to be back and it was fun being out here.

You missed Euros and Worlds this year because of your hand injury…you broke your hand?

EYTHORA: Yes, I broke my hand. It’s all better now. It still hurts and it’ll take a while before it doesn’t hurt anymore, but I can do gymnastics how I did it before, and this is just the start, so it’s good!

What are your short term goals over the next few months? Have you planned any upgrades or are you focusing on maintaining your current level after your injury?

EYTHORA: I’m just trying to get back to the same level, but even better! I hope to gain more strength and add difficulty, and everything just a little bit better.

Congratulations on your performance today and it’s great to have you back!

EYTHORA: Thank you!

And Bart, how did you feel about today?

BART: I think we had a pretty good competition. We had a few good routines and we didn’t make any mistakes. We tried to be tactical, but the others in the competition were really good.

Were you happy with your choice of apparatus in the end?

BART: Yeah, we did good. You know two years ago, with the scores we got just now, we’d have made it easily into the finals, or into the next round. We were just a little bit unlucky. We did good, so that’s the important thing, I think.

EYTHORA: We’re certainly proud of ourselves!

You’re happy with it!

EYTHORA: Yes!

Congratulations again and can’t wait to see you in the next competition!

EYTHORA AND BART: Thank you!
