Fragapane suffers Achilles tear

Just days after confirming her selection for the Commonwealth Games, Team GB’s Claudia Fragapane announced on Friday that she had suffered an Achilles tear during training. British Gymnastics later confirmed the news and added that she was withdrawing from all competitions, including this weekend’s British Championships and the Birmingham World Cup, for the foreseeable future. This is a devastating blow for the 20-year-old, who was hoping to repeat her success at Commonwealths 2014, where she won four gold medals. She was also expected to build on her achievements in 2017, including her first Worlds medal, a bronze on floor. We were shocked and saddened to hear this news, and wish Claudia a speedy recovery throughout 2018.

British Gymnastics today confirmed that Claudia will be replaced at the World Cup event by Alice Kinsella. We’ll be in attendance this weekend to report back on all the happenings and results!
