February European Gymnastics round up

First of all, we have to apologise for not being on the ball. Life got in the way during February, but we’re back now, and ready to recap the last month.

Elena Eremina had an operation to stabilise the lumbar vertebrae. This means she’ll most likely to be out of competition for the rest of the year, with plans to return to training around August.

Larisa Iordache and Vanessa Ferrari continued documenting their rehab for the Achilles tears both gymnasts sustained at Worlds in Montreal. Both appear to be recovering well and are hoping to return to competition as soon as they can.

Ellie Downie’s ankle injury flared up at the English Championships and she has pulled out of the British Championships, World Cup event and Commonwealths. As one of the strongest members of Team GB, the priority is to keep her fit and healthy for Tokyo 2020.

Amy Tinkler took gold in the all-around at the English Championships, with Claudia Fragapane winning silver and Georgia-Mae Fenton claiming the bronze. The men’s all-around was won by James Hall, with Dominick Cunningham and Brinn Bevan coming in second and third.

The Swiss girls had a training camp in Barcelona. It’s great to see Steingruber back again, and Kaeslin remains someone to watch in 2018.
